Personality & History:
Betel will take the opposite path. Always. If there is an easy way to do something and an impossible way, you can bet your bottom dollar that he will take the impossible. Is he stupid? No. Is he bull headed? Not necessarily; Betel just has to find an alternative, to prove that tried-and-true doesn't equate to "the only way". This isn't to say he's some sort of hipster, more that he wants to do it differently so that others can take heart in being different isn't a bad thing.
It goes as no surprise then that Betel will fight for the underdog. He will get to the bottom of a situation, know the truth and still back the underdog, the 'little guy' even if in his heart he knows them to be wrong. It's not about being right it's about doing right.
His birth-herd didn't appreciate his approach. Even as a tiny foal, he would attempt to do things differently, quite often failing as his inexperience was evident but this didn't deter him one iota. It spurred him on. His friends were more often of another species, while his foal-mates might occasionally befriend a different breed of equine, Betel would befriend frogs, hedgehogs or roflpies.
When he reached maturity it was a simple choice for Betel; he would leave. He did so, never for a second looking back - his relationship with his parents had been non-existent; they had long wished to have a filly and Betel was the next in a 6-score of colts. They were disappointed with him before he spoke his first word.
As he'd grown, his interests in fillies had been minor, he would appreciate their beautiful markings and soft feathers but never felt attracted to them. They were too prissy and preening for him, his attractions were more-so fulfilled by the great showy stallions of the herds. Those with extensively colourful manes and legs that reached to the heavens. But still they were not enough. Peafries, though of a solid and sound stature never had the bulk or muscle that really switched Betel on. Then he met Kozmik. Kozmik was ineffable for Betel; his movements were graceful and his build imposing; he would easily tower over Betel by several inches, yet the grey colt would never feel intimidated, only awestruck. When first he encountered the giant dun, Betel was too shy to approach him. Instead he took to peafowl form and hid amongst the rushes of the lake where Kozmik had paused to drink. Kozmik's innate ability to sense the lifeforce of others alerted him to the nervous peacock's presence. Carefully and cautiously Kozmik moved closer until he poked his huge sooty muzzle through the reeds right into the beak of Betel. Eyes-wide, equal parts nerves and thrill, the peafrie stared up at the deep lilac eyes of the towering stallion.
"And why are you so frightened, young chick? I mean you no harm!" The warmth flowed from Kozmik in potent waves, right through his feathers Betel shivered with pleasure just at the sound of the stallions voice. Yet all he could retort was with an ungainly honk! Deterred not by the peafries reticence, Kozmik smiled fondly and nuzzled the peacock.
"I would never harm such a beautiful bird, here, come, sit upon my shoulder and we shall explore this grove together. Perhaps we can find a nice spot to share the afternoon?"
And with that Betel had found his soulmate.

Betel has never taken equine form around Kozmik or anybody that Kozmik knows; he retains his peafowl form at all times.
Betel will respond and converse with Kozmik in terms of closed questions, which is all Kozmik will ask of his avian friend.
Betel is absolutely sexually attracted to Kozmik, while Kozmik feels a great level of affection for Betel, he respects inter-species relationships and does not think of Betel in a sexual manner. Kozmik is asexual; neither mares or stallions appeal to him, while he has a deep and genuine affection for all living creatures he does not sexually identify with any gender or type. Kozmik's bond with Betel, however, is representational of his most intimate relationship; how he would react to know that Betel is actually equine is unknown.

God damn I love this boy. It's 4am and I need to sleep (bike ride tomorrow!... Later today o.O I'm gonna crash where I'll be knackered rofl) but I HAD to finish this guy as I've had no time to dedicate to art recently and there's still more things I want/need to take care of. I MUST get back to my one-a-day routine but this week's been chaotic to say the least.

In all seriousness though, this guy will be really interesting to write about and draw. Everybody has unspoken urges and desires, it's quite exciting to get to vent a little of that in some way through this guy. Never-no-mind he's gorgeous and totally smitten with my OTHER gorgeous peafowl boy. :faint:
